Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK): There are five Lumias in the market – take your pick


Nokia Corporation (ADR)(NYSE:NOK) will be modifying its two new Lumia smartphones for each of the carriers that it has tied up with, according t a report by Business Insider.

The European cell phone company had launched the Lumia 920 and 820 on September 5, in partnership with Microsoft, which is providing the operating system for the phones.

According to the report, sourced from leaks from various Twitter accounts, "...each carrier will have a modified version of the two core models Nokia announced in September."

The Twitter account @evleaks, tweeted a picture of the Lumia 822, which the modified version that Verizon will be releasing. According to the report, Lumia 822 is a tweaked version of the low-end Lumia 820.

The owner of @NokiaPureView, who regularly tracks all developments connected to Nokia and is usually correct with the information says he has used the Lumia 922, a modified version of the high-end 920. This will also launch on Verizon’s network.

The No. 2 carrier in the U.S., AT&T had said last week that it will be launching the Lumia 920 ad 820, while T-Mobile had said that it will be selling an altered version of the Lumia 820, called the Lumia 810.

So for consumers, who are otherwise going to be confused with all these Lumias in the market here's everything in brief. The Lumias that will be on offer with various network are - 810, 820, 822, 920 and 922, all of which are anyway versions of the basic models Lumia 820 and 920.

For those who want to know why Nokia is not selling phones the way that other companies do, Business Insider says that most likely it is due to Nokia's lack of bargaining power with U.S. carriers.
